Texas Roadhouse

Kevin:  Aimee and I went to Texas Roadhouse on Thursday.  It is a place Aimee wanted to visit.  She wanted to have a good steak and it was recommended by one of our best friends.  When we arrived around 7pm, there was a bit of a wait, about 15 minutes.  They gave us a the restaurant “pager” and we sat outside.  We hung out and listened to country music…which is not my favorite genre, but it was lively.  They had peanuts to eat, but we didn’t eat any of them, in fear of spoiling our dinner.
We were seated in bout 10 minutes.  I had sweet tea and I think she had water.  We ordered a “Cactus Blossom” for our appetizer.  It is extremely similar to Outback’s Blooming Onion.  It was tasty, but a little too greasy for me.  I had a 10oz. Ft. Worth Ribeye Steak with Sautéed Mushrooms (with 6 yummy grilled shrimp!).  I was pleasantly surprised with my steak.  It was slightly overcooked (I have not found a steakhouse that can properly cook a steak to medium rare, it is always overdone), but it had great flavor.  It was too much to finish in one sitting, so I took it home for steak and eggs in the morning.  It was a fun time at the Roadhouse.

AIMEE:   As Kev said, I was told by my friend Rachael that we HAD to try Texas Road House so it was on our list of places to try while we were down south for our week of vacation.  The seating was a little too confining and close for my taste. We sat at a table for 2 and there was like a foot and a half of room between our table & the booth next to us for the waitstaff or diners to pass through. The place was definitely well staffed and our waitress was really upbeat and helpful. I liked the Cactus blossom, it was a lot less spicy than the Bloomin’ Onion from Outback Steakhouse, and I was glad for that. I don’t really like spicy stuff.  For my entrée, I really wanted steak after a week of fried shrimp, Smile with tongue out    So I got an 8oz USDA Choice Sirloin and I added a ‘sidekick’ (side order) of grilled shrimp. Both proteins were great but the flavoring of that shrimp in particular was outstanding! I also had a sweet potato with honey/cinnamon butter which had a sweet, rich taste – totally sinful but I loved every bite of it!  The rolls were warm and delish and they were also served with that honey/cinnamon butter, sooo good.  Again, the staff was great and I thought it was nice that there were lots of families around and there was even a guy going around to the tables with children and making balloon animals for them. At the end of the meal, we opted out of dessert because we were so full.  But overall, a very good experience at Texas Roadhouse!
